Outside our normal working hours, an emergency doctor is available for urgent medical problems. They can be contacted on 0845 056 8060. Generally, this is not one of the doctors from this practice. You may be asked to attend an alternative medical centre.

Nurses

We have a Nurse Practitioner, a Prescribing Nurse, 5 practice nurses and two health care assistants, including an audit nurse who helps the team to review how well we have performed our services and finds ways to improve them. Our nurses have received additional training to help them help you look after your health and are available to discuss any problems regarding your health. Their duties will routinely include: Health checks and advice; Childhood immunisations; Management of diet and weight loss; Diabetes, asthma, blood pressure review; Dressings, stitch removal, ear syringing; Family planning and sexual health advice (including cervical smear tests); Travel injections and advice; Smoking cessation clinics All these services and more are carried out by the practice nurses. Please make an appointment between 8.30am and 6.00pm.

Mrs Kate Nicoll
Kate Nicoll is responsible for running the nursing team within the surgery. If you have any queries regarding any aspect of the nursing care provided, please contact Kate. Kate is a fully qualified nurse practitioner and sees patients with acute minor infections. You can find a leaflet in reception showing the types of illnesses Kate can help you with. If you feel Kate could help you, rather than a doctor, please ask for an appointment with her. Appointments with Kate are available on most days. If you are unsure, please ask the receptionist for advice.

Helen McAteer BA (Hons) MBA is our executive manager and is responsible for the
day-to-day running of the practice. She is available during office hours to answer any queries on the running of the practice.

Mrs Jayne Mudd (f)
Jayne Mudd is the deputy practice manager and will answer questions regarding reception queries, patient information and how it is used, your patient record and repeat prescriptions.

Reception

Our receptionists aim to help you get the most out of the services offered at the practice and are there to help you – please treat them with respect as they are working to strict guidelines agreed by the doctors. Please feel free to ask them any questions. They may need to ask you for some information about your problem in order to help you. Please be assured that the receptionists work under a strict code of confidentiality.

Community Nurses

Our district nurses, led by Caroline Richardson, undertake nursing care for patients at home, and community psychiatric nurses and midwives. They can be contacted through the surgery.

Health Visitors

We work closely with a number of community staff who may see you at home or in the surgery. These include our health visitor (Karen Milton) who offers health advice and support, mainly to families with young children, including help with parenting and behaviour management.
